TRIAD
What is TRIAD?
TRIAD is a crime prevention program for seniors. It is supported by law enforcement, senior citizens, and service providers. TRIAD reduces the fear of crime and keeps seniors from becoming victims. TRIAD increases awareness of scams and frauds aimed at seniors. It also teaches seniors about local and state resources that are in their community. TRIAD works in 225 cities, counties, and towns in Virginia.
What programs and services are available through TRIAD?
- File of Life: This is a form you fill out with information about yourself, such as what medications you use, what allergies you have, and who to contact in case of an emergency
- Adopt-A Senior: A progarm where one or more people agree to look out for you
- Seminars and Workshops
- Yellow Dot Program: If you carry a "File for Life", a yellow dot on your car windshield behind the rear view mirror or back glass will tell Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) to look for your "File for Life"
- Senior Days and Senior Conferences
- Resource Manuals
- Project Lifesavor: This lets you wear a device to tell someone if you need help
- Senior Citizen Police Academies: Programs offered by law enforcement that teach you how to prevent crimes against you and others

What costs are associated with TRIAD?
There is no cost for most programs offered through TRIAD, though some may have a cost based on ability to pay.
